Who are Katana and Hajiki?
Hajiki is the main character of the show, a boy living in the slums called Night Town, with a dead-end job as a delivery boy. He meets Katana, the main antagonist; a cold and calculating guy trying to take over the criminal underworld of Unit Blue with his Techode named Zero. Hajiki has his own Techode robot born from a Gad he handled, only he isn't sure what he plans to do with him or why he was given this 'gift'. The two cross paths violently on many occasions.
Why Katana and Hajiki?
It all started with Katana's obsessive nature to make Hajiki obey him. When Sayuri (Katana's relation and companion) denotes that Katana must really like him, he replies "perhaps". From the very beginning the two have fought because of differing opinions, their techodes clashing to make their points. Katana finally comes out with the revelation that he and Hajiki are the same even if their intentions seem different. Upon beating Hajiki in a major showdown, Hajiki decides to leave Unit Blue. Sayuri, then comments that Katana has lost the most important thing to him.
Although most of their moments together were violent, Hajiki sought Katana out countless times, trying to understand why they couldn't work together. In one episode he actually saves Katana from a hitman, and himself, becomes a target; and in an earlier episode they used their techodes to work together for once, against a rampaging atechode, even if fleeting and for different reasons. So, can a good relationship form from them? Perhaps, but only if they leave their pride aside, and that might be asking too much.
Why is the site named Obsession?
Simple, because the two can't stop thinking about each other. Katana's last thought in the series is about Hajiki, when Sayuri asks him if he thinks he is doing ok. Earlier he plays a nice rendition on his trumpet, on a sunset, and when he ends his tune he says "Hajiki.."..obviously thinking about him. Was that song for Hajiki? On the flip side, Hajiki also seeks Katana out many times and in the end he leaves Arashi and his friends to go find Katana. His friends realize that Katana's whereabouts are unknown, so they ask him why he is going to try looking for him. He says that he doesn't know why, but he feels compelled to find him and talk about things, and that they have a lot in common. So are the two obsessed about each other? Obviously.
