This shounen manga series, serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump, runs about 9 volumes (87+ chapters) so far and follows the story of Allen Walker, an exorcist, and his quest to defeat the Millenium Earl. Exorcists are people belonging to an elite section of the Vatican called the "Dark Religious Organization". These people are endowed with powers thanks to a divine substance called "Innocence", and with the innocence they battle a combination of machine weapons with human souls, called "Akuma", all in an attempt to stop the Millenium Earl from bringing the world to it's death.

Started in 2004 by Hoshino Katsura, and published by Shueisha, it has been serialized in the united states by Viz Comics, with the first volume complete in March of 2006. Volume 2 due in August.

The D.Gray-man anime is due for debut in Japan, October 3rd on Tv Tokyo at the 6pm timeslot.
